Heinz Bethmann
Heinz Bethmann, since his retirement from the Niedersächsische Staatsorchester Hannover Heinz Bethmann has dedicated himself to arranging and transcribing music. Born in Berlin and growing up in Hannover. He studied accordion and piano at the Musikhochschule Trossingen; followed on to double bass in Hannover (with Horst Stöhr) and Stuttgart (with Fritz Massmann),, and to conducting (with Felix Prohaska, Hannover).
After working as a profesional Double bassist in Göttingen and Kassel he joined the Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester in Hannover in 1967.
Alongside conducting several orchestras (Warburger Kammerorchester, Hannoversche Orchestervereinigung, Göttinger Sinfonieorchester ), he played as a soloist in a variety of ensembles Orchester des Hauses Rohner, Philharmonisches Salon Ensemble Hannover) and taught since 1970 as a double bass teacher in Hannover since 1970.
Today a substancial number of its pupils are themselves profesional double bass players in orchestras as well as professors ,soloist and teachers..
Axel schoenlein
Axel Schoenlein holds the position professor for doublebass at the Conservatory of Music in Santander ,Spain. He was born in Hannover and began his double-bass studies with Heinz Beethmann in his hometown.
He continued his studies with Knut Guettler at the Royal Music Conservatory in The Haag , where he also worked professionally with variety of Orchestras and Opera houses before commencing his post as professor for Double Bass in Spain in 1996.
Alongside his work at the conservatory, Axel Schoenlein teaches masterclasses ,performs chamber music and appears as a soloist all over Europe
Today, many of his students themselves hold professorates and are employed by major orchestras.
